The Pacific - I write to you from the Pacific realm - YES! I am spending a great deal of time with our troops as they come off of the line. They are exhausted. These boys spend months in the extreme heat and mud with little or no water to drink. It is beyond torture. Island Hopping is working, but it is taking a toll. I fear US troops in the Pacific won't hold out for long unless they get proper supply rations. It is hard, though. Japanese strongholds are in every nook and cranny of the Pacific. Before troops can rest for a moment, they uncover another Japanese stronghold by accident.
To all of the skeptics that believed our boys wouldn't be able to drive back hate in the two great parts of the world: Shame on you! While I am not a supporter of Stalin in any manner of the word, I am thrilled Hitler is being driven away from Russia. It is never a good notion to have any country control too much of any area. That said, Stalin is pushing Germany back in lands that do not belong to him.
My big question is: Will Stalin withdraw his forces from territories like the Ukraine and Poland once he has pushed Germany out of these territories? Will he return independence to these countries or will he take it from them as Hitler did? My husband believes he will respect their independence, Churchill does not trust Stalin. I am on the fence here.
