Maybe Japan is trying a little bit too hard, but they will never be the "Big Dogs" as you have put it.  If they tried to march into the Soviet Union or Germany, they would become nothing more than a shred.  While I support their cause, I do not think they will succeed in the end.  Something lies in the dark for them ahead, I just know it.  So is Japan trying too hard?  Maybe, but I do not think that it is anything to be worried about.
