Diary Entry #3

Dear Diary, 

France has declared war on Germany. Enfin, après toutes ces années d'attente pour l'action, l'action a commencé.

My best friend's brother is going into the army. Me and many other will miss him so. He is a very, how do you say, célèbre, man in my village of Oradour-sur-Glane. I am very lugubrious about this news. I liked him very much. I hope that one d ay, he may come back and I can embrace him in my arms. 

Anyway, I have a really good ami coming to my house today, she is very nice, every child she sees she has to say, "Fabuleux, vous êtes un enfant fabuleux, vous êtes avenir s'annonce très lumineux et ensoleillé." She is wonderful to be around. Her name is Nancy, Nancy Wake. She told me she has something extremely important to ask me.


That is all, I have to go and say goodbye to my beloved friend who is leaving today. I will write again soon. Vive la Résistance. Vive la France
